Siberian Chiffchaff, Killarney
Siberian Chiffchaff, Ross Castle, Killarney, 18th January 2013 (Davey Farrar).
This is only the second time this subspecies has been photographed in Kerry, the first being by Eric Dempsey in December 2009 (see his photos below). By extraordinary coincidence they were photographed in almost exactly the same patch of woodland.

West Kerry Raptor Conservation fundraiser
The West Kerry Branch of BirdWatch Ireland would like to extend a special invitation to all birdwatchers to our forthcoming event on Sunday 13th January at Dingle Aquarium, at 2:00pm - 'Raptors of West Kerry' - a presentation by John Lusby, Raptor Conservation Officer of Birdwatch Ireland. We hope that this will be the start of an extension of our conservation work in 2013, supported by North East Kerry Development. Refreshments will be available at the presentation.
If you would like us to try and reserve a seat for you and your companions please let me know so we can at least try to make sure our most valued supporters have seating near the front.
From 5.30pm there is a barbecue (€10), mighty session and raffle with great prizes, at O’Sullivan’s Courthouse Pub, The Mall, Dingle.
All funds raised are going to help the West Kerry Raptor Conservation work in 2013. Come along, and bring a friend!
Looking forward to seeing you there.
