Wetland Centre gulls

Adult Ring-billed Gull, Tralee Bay Wetlands Centre, 26th January 2019 (Ed Carty).

Adult argentatus Herring Gull, Tralee Bay Wetlands Centre, 26th January 2019 (Ed Carty).

The dark-backed, large-proportioned Scandinavian race of Herring Gull, and apparently only the fifth record for Kerry, though this must be one of the most under-recorded and overlooked of sub-species.

More of the Dingle Glossy Ibis

Glossy Ibis, Dingle, 3rd January 2019 (Michael O'Clery).

The first since one almost exactly a year ago, at Waterville on 4th January 2018. This species has been increasing in Ireland generally and has been seen annually in Kerry since 2012, and before that, a flock of 11 was seen near Ballyferriter in October 2009 (see this post HERE).

This Dingle bird is the 21st record for Kerry.
