Whinchat at Dunquin

Whinchat, Dunquin, 17th September 2019 (Kilian Kelly).

A juvenile, going by the small white tips to some of the mantle feathers. The rough, overgrown fields below Kruger's Pub, where this bird was found by Kilian today, has been one of the better sites in Kerry to find this species in recent years. It bred in the county up to perhaps the mid-60s, maybe into the 70s or 80s in small numbers, but are long gone as a breeding species now.
